Bloomberg Media has announced the highly anticipated relaunch of its flagship business program, Wall Street Week. Hosted by the esteemed David Westin, this revamped series is set to premiere on Bloomberg Television on September 20th and will broaden its reach to public media through distribution on WORLD Channel starting September 22nd.
The return of Wall Street Week marks a significant moment for viewers seeking in-depth analysis of the financial world. Airing Fridays at 6 pm ET on Bloomberg and Sundays at 2 pm ET on 195 PBS stations via WORLD digital channels (covering 77% of US TV households), the program is poised to engage a larger audience than ever before. WORLD, a renowned multi-platform channel, is known for delivering high-quality news, documentaries, and public media programming.
David Westin, the anchor of Wall Street Week, is recognized for his insightful interviews with leading figures in finance and economics. In this reinvented series, Westin will delve into the crucial issues impacting Wall Street, transforming complex topics into compelling narratives that resonate with a global audience. The show’s scope will extend beyond traditional finance to encompass the broader world of capitalism, exploring economics, global markets, geopolitics, climate change, and technological advancements. Viewers can expect a mix of both long and short-form segments, all designed to provide a deeper understanding of the forces shaping the business world. The program will maintain its commitment to exclusive interviews with influential voices in business and finance, solidifying its position as the go-to destination for insightful analysis of business, the economy, and financial markets.
Wall Street Week has a rich history, originating as Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser, a program created and produced by Maryland Public Television that aired on PBS for over three decades. Bloomberg relaunched the program in 2020 with David Westin at the helm, and this new relaunch represents a significant evolution, expanding its content and distribution.
“We have the luxury of talking with the smartest and most influential minds in business, economics, and finance each week,” stated Westin. “Our goal is to provide our audience not just with what they need to know, but what they need to think about.” This vision underscores the program’s commitment to delivering not just news, but also thoughtful analysis and perspective.
Julie Alnwick Mchale, Global Head of Bloomberg Television, expressed her enthusiasm for the relaunch and the expanded reach through WORLD, stating, “David Westin is perhaps one of the most well-regarded interviewers in the world of business and finance… This series showcases his brilliant ability to help viewers understand the broader implications of the week’s top stories.”
Liz Cheng, general manager for GBH and WORLD, also highlighted the significance of Wall Street Week returning to public media, noting its trusted reputation as a source for financial news. “We’re pleased to be able to share news and analysis of the biggest financial stories of the week with audiences hungry for this content on our member station broadcasts and streams across the U.S.,” Cheng added.
Following its broadcast on Bloomberg Television’s extensive network, reaching over 400 million households globally across cable, satellite, and FAST streaming platforms, episodes of Wall Street Week will be readily accessible on www.bloomberg.com and the Bloomberg Business app as part of their enhanced weekend offerings.
