Regal Cinemas Times Square: Your Ultimate Movie Destination in Manhattan

Regal Cinemas Times Square, located at 247 W 42nd Street in the heart of Manhattan, stands as a beacon for movie enthusiasts seeking a premier cinematic experience. This multiplex, a cornerstone of the E-Walk entertainment complex, boasts 13 screens and a rich history in one of the world’s most vibrant locations.

Originally known as Loews 42nd Street E-Walk Theatre, this venue opened its doors in November 1999, quickly establishing itself as a modern entertainment hub in the revitalized Times Square. Designed with retro-Art Deco touches and illuminated by striking neon, the theater emerged on the site of the former Harem Theatre, a symbolic shift from the area’s past to its present family-friendly entertainment focus. Architect David Rockwell and firms David Rockwell/Rockwell Group and JKRP Architects contributed to its distinctive design.

In its early days, Regal Cinemas faced limited competition, primarily from older, less modern venues. However, the landscape shifted dramatically with the arrival of AMC Empire 25 across the street. This head-to-head competition turned Times Square into a major movie-going destination, offering an unprecedented number of film choices for New Yorkers and tourists alike.

The theater transitioned to Regal Cinemas on September 15, 2006, following AMC’s acquisition of Loews Cineplex and subsequent divestment requirements. Regal further enhanced the experience by introducing the first RPX (Regal Premium Experience) auditorium in 2010, promising unparalleled picture and sound quality. RPX features crystal clear digital projection, a giant screen, and powerful surround sound, creating a truly immersive visual and auditory experience. Continuing to innovate, Regal Times Square added a 4DX auditorium in 2018, and now features two 4DX installations, including the world’s largest 4DX auditorium, offering a revolutionary 4D movie experience with motion seats and environmental effects.

For inquiries or to check showtimes, the box office can be reached at 212.840.7761, and the manager at 844.462.7342.
