My friend E, a true connoisseur of food, led me to the Elm Street Oyster House in Greenwich, CT, and it turned out to be an exceptional recommendation. The oysters were so delightful they almost inspired song. For anyone craving truly outstanding oysters, this is unequivocally the place to visit. My personal highlight was the Onset oyster from Massachusetts.

We shared a dozen oysters, thoughtfully split between East Coast and West Coast varieties. A revelation: when oysters are of this caliber, sauces are entirely unnecessary. The experience of eating these oysters was genuinely exquisite. Em.

The Onset oysters from MA were impeccably clean, refreshingly fresh, and had a smooth finish. Conversely, the Kumamoto oysters from CA offered a creamy texture, akin to a seafood dessert. These quickly became our top picks.

Hickory Flour Fried Calamari: It might sound like a standard dish, but think again. The unparalleled freshness of the seafood at Elm Street Oyster House elevates even simple dishes to new heights. It was impossible to resist eating more and more of this calamari.

Seafood Chili: Initially, “seafood chili” sounded unappealing on the menu. The idea of seafood combined with beans was off-putting. However, my apprehension was completely unfounded. This dish was more akin to an American interpretation of seafood bouillabaisse. The calamari and scallops were remarkably fresh, and the tangy tomato sauce beautifully complemented the seafood. The cheese topping added a comforting element and slightly thickened the texture. And surprisingly, there were no beans! It was, in fact, quite perfect. I’m grateful E encouraged me to try it.
Our meal was exceptional, enjoying oysters and French fries at the bar with a wonderful friend. Thank you, E, for introducing me to the delight of pairing oysters with fries! And thank you for such an enjoyable evening. 🙂
