A Boutique Gem on Canal Street: The Saint Hotel Experience

The Saint Hotel, a boutique hotel nestled right on historic Canal Street, offers a distinctive New Orleans experience. Housed in a beautifully repurposed former office and retail building, The Saint Hotel has been a beloved fixture since its transformation in 2010. Its prime location makes it an ideal choice, particularly for theatergoers, as it’s just a stone’s throw from the renowned Saenger Theatre. During a recent stay for an unforgettable Bob Dylan concert at the Saenger, we once again enjoyed the hotel’s exceptional amenities and convenient access to the city.

For those wondering about proximity to the famed French Quarter, The Saint Hotel boasts an enviable location. A short, pleasant walk or a quick streetcar ride (with a stop conveniently located right outside the hotel) places you in the heart of the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, the Riverfront, and countless New Orleans attractions. It’s truly the perfect launchpad for exploring all that the city has to offer.

Seamless Arrival and Valet at The Saint Hotel Canal Street

Our experience at The Saint Hotel Canal Street began flawlessly upon arrival. Valet parking is readily available just outside the hotel’s Canal Street entrance, priced at $45.00 per 24 hours. The valet service was efficient and courteous; retrieving our car was always prompt, typically within 10 minutes of sending a text request beforehand. This smooth arrival process truly sets a positive tone for your stay.

The lobby of The Saint Hotel feels grand and spacious, a welcoming introduction to the hotel’s unique character. The front desk staff were attentive, efficient, and a pleasant surprise – our room was ready for us well ahead of schedule, at 11:00 a.m. As Marriott Platinum guests, we were also informed about complimentary breakfast available in the former Tempt dining area, a stylish space just off the lobby overlooking Canal Street.

Relaxing and Stylish Rooms at The Saint Hotel New Orleans

The Saint Hotel in New Orleans offers a room experience that is both refreshing and comfortable. While we opted for a standard King room, which was exceptionally well-appointed, we were particularly intrigued by their apartment-sized suites. The hotel boasts uniquely themed suites, including the intriguing “Lucifer-themed” and “Michael-themed” suites – definitely something to aspire to for a future visit!

While Tempt, formerly a favorite dining spot within The Saint Hotel, is no longer operating, the hotel has retained the beautiful space and now utilizes it for breakfast service in the mornings. This area, just off the lobby, features distinctive booths and tables, creating a pleasant ambiance for starting your day.

For other dining options, room service is available. Additionally, the Burgundy Bar within the hotel offers a tempting selection of small plates. We particularly recommend the duck empanadas and the crawfish dip – both are flavorful and perfect for a light meal or snack.

Conveniently located next door is The Ritz Carlton New Orleans, offering further dining choices, including a fantastic weekend brunch. The Saint Hotel’s central location also means you are within easy walking distance of numerous other restaurants in the vicinity, catering to diverse tastes and preferences.

A visit to The Burgundy Bar at The Saint Hotel is truly a unique experience. It has become a cherished pre-show ritual for us, offering delicious small plates and drinks in an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and inviting. The bar’s ambiance is defined by rich, deep red lighting and opulent décor, extending the hotel’s distinctive vibe into its lounge space. Seating options include bar stools (thoughtfully equipped with purse hangers!) and plush velvet seating areas opposite the bar. While we didn’t catch a live music performance on our recent visit, The Burgundy Bar does host live performances on a stage area within the lounge on select occasions.

It’s clear that The Burgundy Bar is one of our favorite lounges in New Orleans. We even featured it in our recent DIY cocktail crawl article because it’s an experience worth having even if you’re not a hotel guest. The only thing to note is its limited operating hours: Thursdays to Sundays, from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. If your visit falls outside these days, the bar will be closed.

Additional Amenities at The Saint Hotel Canal Street

While we didn’t have the opportunity to use the fitness center during this stay, it’s worth noting that The Saint Hotel offers a 24/7 fitness facility for guests.

The hotel also provides attractive meeting and event spaces, making it suitable for small weddings (up to 45 guests) or meetings. With 2600 square feet of event space and dedicated meeting rooms, The Saint Hotel can accommodate a range of events.
