Getting to Lyon Street Steps from Fisherman’s Wharf
For those starting at Fisherman’s Wharf, public transportation is readily available. The most efficient route involves taking the 8 bus from Powell and North Point Streets and transferring to the 45 bus at the intersection of Columbus Avenue & Union Streets. Ride the 45 to the stop at Union Street and Baker Street. From there, walk one block west along Union Street to Lyon Street, turn left, and begin walking uphill. The bottom of the Lyon Street Steps will be on your right after about a block and a half.
Reaching Lyon Street Steps from Union Square
Access from Union Square is also straightforward. You have a couple of public transit options:

Option 1 (Bus 45): Take the 45 bus and follow the same directions as from Fisherman’s Wharf, getting off at Union Street and Baker Street.

Option 2 (Bus 2): Alternatively, you can take the 2 bus from Sutter and Stockton Streets. Get off at the stop at California Street and Presidio Avenue. From there, walk up Lyon Street towards Broadway. This is a six-block walk, and be prepared for steep hills in the last few blocks. This walk will bring you directly to the top of the Lyon Street Steps at Broadway.
