The 73-foot-tall structure is planned to encompass 19,278 square feet, featuring 22 rental units averaging 740 square feet each, alongside 2,994 square feet dedicated to commercial use, and a cellar level.
Recent on-site photographs reveal substantial excavation below street level, secured by sidewalk fencing. Visible along the perimeter are remnants of the previous buildings’ brick foundation walls, along with scattered rubble, offering a glimpse into the site’s history before this new chapter of development at East 2nd Street. Construction teams are expected to continue below-grade work throughout the coming months, paving the way for the superstructure to emerge in early 2025, transforming the cityscape at this East Village corner.

Previously, the location at 88 East 2nd Street was home to two low-rise commercial buildings, which were demolished earlier this year to make way for this new development.
