Discovering the Grant Street Transportation Center: Your Pittsburgh Gateway

Nestled in the heart of Pittsburgh, where 11th Street, Liberty Avenue, Penn Avenue, and 12th Street converge, stands the Grant Street Transportation Center (GSTC). More than just a parking facility, the GSTC acts as a crucial nexus connecting you to various transportation modes and iconic city destinations. As eloquently noted upon its opening, it’s a “magnificent structure which presents a new face to the City of Pittsburgh,” and that significance holds true today.

Strategically positioned, the Grant Street Transportation Center offers unparalleled access. It’s conveniently adjacent to the East Bus Way and just across from the Pennsylvanian, home to Amtrak, at 1100 Liberty Avenue. The David L. Lawrence Convention Center is also within easy walking distance. Separated only by the Norfolk Southern railroad, the GSTC is a block away from prominent landmarks including the Federal Building, USX Tower, the John Heinz History Center, the Westin Convention Center Hotel, and the August Wilson African American Cultural Center. Furthermore, it serves as a welcoming entry point to the vibrant Strip District.

For outdoor enthusiasts planning an adventure on the Great Allegheny Passage Trail (www.GAPTrail.com), the Grant Street Transportation Center provides a secure and convenient parking solution. If you intend to park your vehicle for an extended period, simply reach out to the Garage Manager or Attendant on duty. For stays exceeding a single day, it’s recommended to complete the Extended Stay Customer Information Form, downloadable here(PDF, 106KB).

Alternatively, the Blue Lobby B, along Penn Avenue, also hosts the Manager’s office for any inquiries or assistance you may require. For those traveling by bus, the Greyhound Lines Bus Terminal is conveniently located on the first floor, with its main entrance accessible from the corner of 11th Street and Liberty Avenue.

Recognizing the growing need for electric vehicle infrastructure, the Grant Street Transportation Center now features two Eaton Level II Dual Electric Vehicle Chargers located in the Red Garage on the 2nd Floor. These charging stations are capable of accommodating up to four vehicles simultaneously, with an efficient 4-hour charging cycle. These EV chargers are fully operational and ready for use, contributing to a greener transportation ecosystem in Pittsburgh.
