Richmond, CA Street Services: Keeping Our City Moving

If you encounter a street maintenance issue, please report it through the City of Richmond’s COR Connect system. The Streets Maintenance Division is dedicated to ensuring the streets of Richmond, CA are safe and well-maintained. This division operates with three key sections to address various needs:

Pavement Maintenance

The Pavement Maintenance section is crucial for the longevity and quality of Richmond’s roadways. This team focuses on delivering cost-effective and high-quality maintenance for all street surfaces, both visible and beneath the surface. Their work includes critical tasks such as removing and replacing deteriorated pavement, efficiently repairing potholes, and improving street drainage by paving gutters to correct uneven road surfaces. These efforts ensure smoother and safer driving conditions throughout the city.

Traffic Signs and Lines

The Traffic Signs and Lines section is responsible for maintaining clear and effective traffic guidance throughout Richmond. Adhering to California standards, this section manages the installation and upkeep of directional and street name signs, adapting to changes in traffic patterns to keep drivers informed. They also install and replace pavement reflectors, which significantly enhance the visibility of lane markings, especially at night. Ensuring pedestrian and vehicle safety is also a priority through the installation and maintenance of crosswalk markings and pavement messages using durable paint or thermoplastic materials.

Street Sweeping

The Street Sweeping section plays a vital role in keeping Richmond clean and environmentally friendly. Commercial areas and major arterial streets benefit from weekly mechanical street sweeping, while residential areas and scheduled thoroughfares receive monthly sweeping services. Street sweeping schedules vary by neighborhood; some areas have posted signage, while others operate on an odd/even address schedule when no signs are present. Typically, sweeping occurs between 8 am and 11 am, though some routes begin as early as 7 am. It’s important to note that street sweeping services are not provided on city holidays. For more detailed information, residents can access the Street Sweeping Schedule Map and List online. For specific inquiries regarding street sweeping, please contact Streets Division Supervisor Carlos Castro at 510-231-3083 or via Email.
