Bleecker Street’s 2025 Movie Slate: A Diverse and Bold Lineup

Bleecker Street, celebrating its 10th anniversary, has announced an exciting and diverse slate of films for theatrical release in 2025, reaffirming their commitment to championing bold and original storytelling. The lineup includes titles acquired from prestigious film festivals like Sundance and Telluride, alongside highly anticipated productions featuring a star-studded cast and acclaimed filmmakers. Movie enthusiasts can look forward to a range of genres and narratives hitting theaters throughout the year, starting as early as January.

The 2025 slate kicks off with Mike Leigh’s Hard Truths, set for a wide release on January 10th. This film has already garnered significant awards buzz, including recognition from the National Board of Review and accolades for its star Marianne Jean-Baptiste. Following closely is Love Me, starring Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun, scheduled for release on January 31st. This unique film, which premiered at Sundance, explores an unconventional love story between a buoy and a satellite in a post-humanity world, promising a thought-provoking and original cinematic experience.

April will see the release of The Wedding Banquet on April 18th, starring Bowen Yang and Lily Gladstone. This Sundance premiere title, directed by Andrew Ahn, delves into a complex relationship scenario involving a green-card marriage and an unexpected Korean wedding banquet, promising a blend of humor and heartwarming moments.

March brings The Friend, starring Bill Murray and Naomi Watts, which will begin its limited theatrical rollout on March 21st, expanding wide on March 28th. Acquired from Telluride, this film from directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel tells the story of a writer whose life is disrupted by the inheritance of a Great Dane and the unexpected emotional journey that follows. Ann Dowd and Constance Wu also feature in this poignant drama.

Looking ahead to the second quarter of 2025, Bleecker Street will release Relay, a high-concept thriller starring Riz Ahmed, Sam Worthington, and Lily James. Directed by David Mackenzie, this film, which premiered at TIFF, centers on a reclusive middleman in the corporate whistleblower world, promising suspense and intrigue. Later in the year, audiences can anticipate Feckham Hall, a period drama spoof in the vein of Airplane! starring Damian Lewis and Thomasin McKenzie. This comedic offering, written by Jimmy Carr and directed by Jim O’Hanlon, also features Emma Laird, Tom Felton, and Katherine Waterston, promising a rapid-fire and humorous take on the period drama genre.
