Third Street Social Expands to Northland: A Highly Anticipated Opening at Metro North Crossing

Kansas City’s vibrant dining scene is set to welcome a new addition as Third Street Social prepares to open its third location in the Northland area. This popular, locally-owned restaurant is slated to become an anchor tenant at the burgeoning Metro North Crossing Development, a $250 million mixed-use project that is transforming the landscape of Northland.

Prime Location at Metro North Crossing

The new Third Street Social Northland will occupy a prominent 7,000-square-foot corner space within the Woodstone luxury apartment complex, located at 400 NW Legacy Drive in Kansas City, MO. Woodstone, a recently completed $60 million development within Metro North Crossing, offers an ideal setting for the restaurant. The Metro North Crossing development itself is transforming the former site of the Metro North Mall into a dynamic destination, already home to tenants like Hawaiian Brothers Island Grill and Whataburger, and the popular T-Shotz golf entertainment venue. This strategic location promises high visibility and accessibility for Third Street Social in the heart of Northland.

Third Street Social’s Roots and Growing Popularity

Third Street Social has established itself as a beloved Kansas City dining destination. The restaurant’s original location is in downtown Lee’s Summit, housed in the historic Arnold Hall building on 3rd Street – the very street that inspires its name. This location holds historical significance as the place where former President Harry S. Truman launched his political career. Coupled with “Social,” the name reflects the restaurant’s focus on a lively bar atmosphere and a chef-driven social dining experience. Building on the success of its Lee’s Summit location and its second spot on the Country Club Plaza at 5031 Main St., the expansion to Northland demonstrates the brand’s growing popularity and commitment to serving the wider Kansas City community.

Excitement Builds for Northland Opening

The arrival of Third Street Social Northland is generating considerable excitement. Dan Horn, project manager at Metro North Crossing, LLC, emphasized the significance of this addition, stating, “The Third Street Social team has been at the top of their list for years. This is a big deal for our project and this area of the Northland.” This sentiment underscores the anticipated positive impact of Third Street Social on the Metro North Crossing development and the surrounding Northland area. Owned and operated by experienced local restaurateurs Andy Lock and Domhnall Molloy, along with culinary director Po Wang, Third Street Social is known for its chef-driven American cuisine. The restaurant group also boasts other successful ventures in the Kansas City area, including Summit Grill, Pearl Tavern, South of Summit, and Boru Asian Eatery, further solidifying their reputation for quality dining experiences. Northland residents can look forward to experiencing Third Street Social when it opens its doors in late fall 2023.
