F Street Dispensary: Celebrating 5 Years as Davis’ Premier Cannabis Destination

For half a decade, F Street Dispensary has proudly served the Davis cannabis community, establishing itself as a beloved local favorite. Nestled at the serendipitous address of 420 F Street, this dispensary occupies a charming small house, a property owned by the family of co-owner and CEO Rob Read for over three decades. Stepping inside, customers are greeted by a welcoming sign-in desk, with a clear view to the shop and its diverse array of cannabis products to the left.

Rob Read expresses immense gratitude for F Street Dispensary’s esteemed position within the city. “Time truly flies when you’re passionate about your work and dedicated to serving your community,” Read remarked. “We are deeply thankful for the opportunity to cater to the needs of Yolo County residents and beyond. While navigating the cannabis industry presents unique challenges, the loyalty of our customers, who genuinely value our products and services, makes it incredibly rewarding. My initial hope was simply to establish a sustainable business in a nascent industry characterized by evolving regulations and intense competition.”

F Street Dispensary offers a comprehensive selection of cannabis products, including flower, prerolls, vaporizer cartridges, extracts, tinctures, topicals, and edibles, even featuring cannabis-infused beverages. Recognizing that this extensive range can be overwhelming, the knowledgeable F Street staff are readily available to provide personalized guidance through the various options.

“Our staff is truly the backbone of F Street Dispensary,” Read emphasizes. “They are not just product experts; they possess a deep understanding of how cannabis interacts with the human body. We have a dedicated team, and we are fortunate to have several team members who have been with us since our inception five years ago, many in leadership roles such as our director of retail operations. To further enhance customer support, we also operate a call center, ensuring customers can access information and engage in detailed conversations at their convenience.”

Beyond its exceptional staff, F Street Dispensary distinguishes itself through attractive discounts and special offers, providing significant value to its clientele. “We are intensely focused on both customer service and providing exceptional value,” Read explains. “We consistently offer discounts and promotions that many other dispensaries find difficult to match. This strategy is rooted in our overarching company philosophy, which prioritizes building a lasting brand over pursuing short-term profits.”

Building on five successful years, Rob Read has ambitious plans to expand F Street Dispensary’s footprint. Following the successful launch of a second location in Dixon two and a half years prior, Read pursued an opportunity to open a dispensary in Woodland. However, despite his efforts, F Street was not selected among the four licenses granted in Woodland.

“Although we were not chosen to open a physical store in Woodland, we want to assure our Woodland customers that we remain just a short drive away and ready to serve them whenever they are in Davis,” Read affirmed. “We are disappointed by this outcome, especially as we know many of our Woodland patrons are even more upset than we are, having requested a Woodland location since we first opened. Unfortunately, this expansion into Woodland will not be possible at this time.”

Looking ahead, the next significant milestone for Read and F Street Dispensary is reaching the 10-year mark. Given the dynamic nature of the cannabis industry, achieving a decade in business would represent a considerable accomplishment, particularly in a market where the number of dispensaries in Davis has recently decreased.

For the present, however, Read’s primary focus remains steadfastly on serving the Davis community and surrounding Yolo County, one customer at a time. “Serving the Yolo community, where I grew up and am now raising my daughter, is an incredible privilege, even considering that cannabis remains a controversial topic for some,” Read shared. “We take our social responsibility seriously, aligning our operations with our family and community values. This commitment necessitates a cautious approach to advertising, carefully considering who we reach, where, and how we communicate. Furthermore, we actively contribute financially to local organizations, in addition to the substantial tax revenue we generate.”

“Overall, we feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to open F Street Dispensary. We are also grateful to have navigated the economic challenges, from the COVID-19 pandemic to recent inflationary pressures and decreasing product prices, allowing us to continue serving our valued customers every day.”
