111 West 57th Street Photos: Witness the Crane Dismantling at the Supertall Tower

The disassembly of the exterior hoist on the northern side of 111 West 57th Street was previously documented, and now new images capture the rapid dismantling of the construction crane from the southern facade of this iconic supertall building. Designed by SHoP Architects, this slender skyscraper, developed by JDS Development, Property Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners, boasts a remarkable 24:1 height-to-width ratio. The residences within, designed by Studio Sofield and marketed by Douglas Elliman Development Marketing, are situated on Billionaires’ Row, offering unparalleled views aligned with Central Park.

With the upper portion of SHoP Architects’ design now fully visible, the building’s distinctive feathered silhouette can be truly appreciated from both east and west perspectives along 57th Street. The elegant lines and proportions of the tower are becoming increasingly apparent as the crane recedes.

The view from Central Park also reveals the elegant setbacks that gracefully ascend towards the ornamental crown. Since the last update, the glass panels have been installed, filling in the area where the exterior hoist was previously attached, completing the seamless facade.

The complete crane disassembly is anticipated by the beginning of summer. The terracotta and bronze cladding on the eastern and western elevations continue to gleam, reflecting sunlight and showcasing the Art Deco-inspired detailing that defines the building’s aesthetic.
