Planning a visit to the Main Street Theater? Ensure a smooth start to your theater experience by knowing your parking options in advance. MST highly recommends arriving at least 30 minutes before curtain time. This allows ample time to park and settle in before the show begins, as late seating is limited once performances start.
Garage Parking: Convenient and Affordable
For an easy parking experience with a short walk to the theater, consider the Village District Rooftop Parking or the Village District Parking Garage. You can find the Rooftop Parking above the Shake Shack and Starbucks building. The Parking Garage is another excellent option nearby. Both offer a maximum daily parking rate of just $5.00, and the first two hours are complimentary!
Rooftop Parking provides easy access if you are also visiting Shake Shack, Prego, or Starbucks Coffee. The Parking Garage is ideally situated for those planning to visit Jason’s Deli, D’Amico’s Italian Market Café, Hopdoddy Burger Bar, or The Black Walnut Café before or after the show.
To reach Rooftop Parking, enter from Kelvin Drive, located between Amherst and University Boulevard. The Parking Garage can be accessed via entrances on Kelvin and Amherst, or from Morningside Drive.
Premier Parking: Metered Street Parking in Village Parkway
Premier Parking spots are available along Village Parkway and throughout the Village District. These are metered parking spaces operated by the Village District and are active 24/7. Expect to pay between $8.00 and $10.00 for parking, depending on the duration of the play and any dining plans you have.
Premier Parking is particularly convenient if you plan to dine at Prego Italian Restaurant, Le Peep, Thai Village, Shiva, or grab a quick bite at the Brown Bag Deli. Importantly, a portion of the parking fees from Premier Parking contributes to supporting SPARK Parks at Poe and Roberts Elementary schools, adding a community benefit to your parking choice.
Free Parking: Explore Street Parking Options
Free Street Parking is available throughout the Rice Village area during all Main Street Theater performances. However, it is crucial to read street signs carefully to avoid any parking violations. Keep in mind that posted 2-hour time limits are only in effect from Monday to Saturday, between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Outside of these hours and on Sundays, these restrictions are lifted. When utilizing street parking in front of other businesses, please ensure that the business is closed to avoid any issues. Times Blvd. Street Parking is a convenient option, especially for those planning to visit Thai Village and Shiva Indian Restaurant.
Always remember to prioritize the safety of your vehicle. LOCK your car, TAKE your keys, and HIDE your belongings. Main Street Theater is not responsible for any damages or theft that may occur. Enjoy your visit to the theater with peace of mind knowing you have convenient parking options!
