Maintaining clean and safe streets is a priority in the City of Brea. To achieve this, Brea provides regular street sweeping services twice a month for both residential and commercial areas. This essential program is designed to minimize debris accumulation on Brea Streets and along curbs, significantly contributing to pollution reduction and enhancing the overall safety of our roadways.
Depending on your location within Brea, your street will be swept during one of the following schedules:
- First and third weeks of the month
- Second and fourth weeks of the month
For detailed scheduling, residents can refer to the Street Sweeping Calendar for the year. This calendar offers a comprehensive overview of the sweeping schedule throughout Brea.
Understanding the Street Sweeping Schedule and Zones
To help residents understand when street sweeping occurs in their neighborhoods, the City of Brea provides reference maps. These maps divide Brea into two main sections, East and West, based on the 57 Orange Freeway. By consulting these maps, you can easily identify the designated sweeping day for your specific area and plan accordingly to help keep Brea streets clean.
Holiday Street Sweeping Schedule Adjustments
Please note that street sweeping services are suspended on the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King Day
- President’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
On these holidays, street sweeping will not take place, and the schedule will resume as normal on the next scheduled sweeping day.
Parking and Street Sweeping in Brea: Encouraging Cooperation
Street sweeping operations in residential areas take place between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. While signs are posted at neighborhood entrances indicating the scheduled sweeping day, it’s important to be aware of the current parking enforcement policy.
The City of Brea has temporarily suspended parking enforcement for the Street Sweeping Program as of January 15, 2019, for evaluation purposes. This means that residents will not receive parking citations for vehicles remaining on Brea streets during sweeping hours.
However, to maximize the effectiveness of the street sweeping service and ensure all Brea streets are thoroughly cleaned, residents are strongly encouraged to voluntarily move their vehicles from the street during scheduled sweeping times. This cooperation, even for vehicles with overnight parking permits, significantly aids in keeping our streets cleaner and safer for everyone.
It is crucial to remember that the suspension of Street Sweeping Parking Enforcement does not affect the City’s Overnight Parking Ordinance. Parking on Brea streets remains prohibited between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., and citations will be issued for violations. Overnight Parking Permits are available for residents who meet specific criteria.
Your cooperation in supporting the street sweeping program is greatly appreciated and directly contributes to enhancing neighborhood cleanliness throughout Brea. For any questions regarding street sweeping services, please contact 714-990-7691.
