Dean Street Society emerged in 2011, initially built on the foundation of personal styling consultations. This realization sparked the creation of accessible courses and a vibrant community, designed to empower a broader audience of women.
The Dean Street Society’s scope quickly broadened. Inquiries about launching businesses became increasingly frequent, naturally leading to the incorporation of entrepreneurial teachings into the platform. This expansion, while successful, brought its own challenges, particularly in managing overwhelm. Consequently, a key focus shifted towards cultivating inner peace, extending beyond outward appearances to encompass all facets of life. This holistic approach influenced subsequent offerings, including future products and a podcast, all within the Dean Street Society framework.
For over twelve years, Dean Street Society fostered an exceptionally supportive online environment. It became home to a million students, diverse in age, background, and life experiences. This community thrived on mutual growth, healing, and shared successes, creating a deeply meaningful and joyful space online, all centered around the Dean Street ethos of personal empowerment.
However, in 2023, a significant transition point arrived. Mid-pregnancy with her first child and on the cusp of relocating from New York City after two decades, it became evident that the Dean Street Society business model was no longer sustainable in its current form. With impending maternity leave and the demands of newborn care, a necessary pivot was not feasible within the available timeframe.
The decision to close Dean Street Society was unexpected, yet it brought with it a profound sense of peace. The impact of the community, both on its members and on the founder’s personal journey, is undeniable. The cherished community and the experiences gained represent a beautiful chapter, one that paved the way for new beginnings, including the arrival of a long-awaited child.
The success of Dean Street Society is undeniable, a testament to the connections forged and the shared journey undertaken. The future remains unwritten, but the hope for continued connection in new ventures is strong. For now, the focus is on navigating personal evolution amidst significant life changes, documenting the process of rediscovery and growth.
