Discover the Magic of Dream Street: An Inclusive Summer Camp Experience

Dream Street isn’t just a summer camp; it’s a transformative five-day, four-night camping program designed specifically for children with physical disabilities. Nestled within the scenic grounds of URJ Henry S. Jacobs Camp in Utica, MS, Dream Street, proudly sponsored by NFTY’s Southern Region, offers an unforgettable experience where every child can thrive.

What is Dream Street?

Founded in 1975, Dream Street operates on a powerful mission: to ensure every child, regardless of their physical abilities, has the chance to experience the joys of childhood. We believe in creating an environment where making new friends, achieving personal milestones, and feeling genuinely accepted are not just possibilities, but everyday realities. Dream Street campers and staff alike benefit profoundly from the life-changing atmosphere cultivated here. It’s more than just a camp; it’s a place where children with physical disabilities are simply children – celebrated for who they are, not defined by their limitations. This pure and simple acceptance is the true magic at the heart of Dream Street.

The Dream Street Experience

At Dream Street, we focus on abilities, not disabilities. Campers engage in a wide range of adapted activities, from swimming and arts and crafts to music and outdoor adventures, all within a supportive and accessible environment. Our dedicated staff, many of whom are returning volunteers, work tirelessly to ensure each camper feels empowered and included. Dream Street is designed to foster independence, build confidence, and create lasting memories. It’s a unique opportunity for children to step outside their comfort zones, challenge themselves, and discover new strengths in a community that understands and celebrates them.

Who Can Join Dream Street?

Dream Street welcomes campers primarily from Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and West Tennessee, aged between 8 and 14 years old. Our program is specifically tailored for children with physical disabilities, including conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, limb deficiencies, spinal cord injuries, communicative disorders, and other developmental disabilities impacting mobility. Each summer, we are thrilled to host approximately sixty campers, creating a close-knit and supportive camp family.
