If you missed out on tickets for the 5th, don’t despair! Due to the incredible response, Lake Street Dive has added a second show at the Jackson Hole Center for the Arts on July 6th! Mike Calabrese explains the inspiration behind the album: “There’s a lot to be angry about in the world right now… but it isn’t sustainable to constantly live in that anger—you need something else to keep you going. Joy is a great way to sustain yourself, and we wanted to encourage everyone to stay aware of that.” This sentiment resonates deeply within their music and is amplified in their live performances.
The creation of “Good Together” also marked a new chapter in Lake Street Dive’s collaborative process. For the first time, they collectively wrote songs from the ground up. Gathering at Calabrese’s Vermont studio, they employed a unique method using a 20-sided die to determine musical parameters like chords, meter, and tempo. This unconventional approach pushed their creative boundaries and led to exciting new sonic territories. Bridget Kearney describes the process: “We’d take those elements and jam for a while, go our separate ways and come up with lyrics and melodies, then come back together and workshop everything. It ended up taking us to new places we never would’ve gotten to otherwise.”
