Planning an unforgettable Las Vegas experience? Beyond the casinos and shows, Fremont Street offers a unique thrill: the Fremont Street Zip Line. For my daughter Natalie’s 14th birthday, we skipped the typical party and opted for a girls’ trip to Vegas. While shows and dining were on the agenda, the one activity we couldn’t miss was ziplining down Fremont Street at night. It turned out to be an absolute highlight, and here’s why it should be on your Vegas to-do list.
Natalie Bourn Excited for Las Vegas Zip Line Adventure
Our girls’ getaway crew, including my mom, mother-in-law, sister, and close friends, were ready for adventure. We quickly learned that spontaneity has its limits in Vegas. Initially, we planned to zip line after seeing Blue Man Group on Friday night. Luckily, a last-minute check for reservations revealed that Friday was completely booked! Pro-tip: book your Fremont Street zip line experience in advance, especially on weekends. We snagged tickets for Saturday night, or rather, the early hours of Sunday morning at 1:30 AM.
To fill time before our late-night adventure after the mesmerizing Mystère Cirque du Soleil show, we strolled down Fremont Street. Let’s just say, Fremont Street at night is an experience in itself, especially for a 14-year-old! It was definitely an eye-opening walk and a good reminder about navigating different environments and making smart choices.
SlotZilla: The Fremont Street Zip Line Experience
The star of the show is SlotZilla, a colossal, slot machine-themed zip line attraction that’s become a Fremont Street icon. This isn’t just any zip line; it’s a multi-million dollar spectacle and one of the most thrilling things to do in downtown Las Vegas. Imagine launching from a 12-story high slot machine, complete with showgirl figures, oversized dice, and vibrant neon Vegas signs.
SlotZilla offers two exhilarating ways to fly:
- The Zipline: Starting at 77 feet, this seated ride takes you 850 feet, halfway down the Fremont Street Experience. You’ll land near the Four Queens and Fremont casinos. It’s a fantastic introduction to the thrill.
- The Zoomline: For the ultimate adrenaline rush, the Zoomline launches from 114 feet high. You’ll fly 1,750 feet, the entire length of Fremont Street, in a superhero position, landing near the Golden Gate casino. This is the faster, longer, and more intense option.

Technically, we opted for the Zoomline, the superhero-style flight! Soaring side-by-side under the Viva Vision canopy, the world’s largest video screen, was absolutely incredible. The dazzling neon signs, the vibrant lights, and the classic Vegas hotels below created an unforgettable spectacle. It was more than just a ride; it was an immersion into the heart of Vegas energy.
One thing to keep in mind: the entire SlotZilla experience takes longer than you might expect. From check-in to landing, allocate at least an hour. If you’re planning to grab refreshments before or after, factor in potential wait times at each stage. We were parched afterwards and wished we had hydrated beforehand!
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect when you go Fremont Street zip lining:
After checking in at the SlotZilla retail shop, you’ll head outside and up to a second-story loading area. Here, you’ll be weighed, fitted with a harness, and your belongings will be secured in a bag that travels with you. Be prepared for a bit of waiting in this area as groups are organized. We waited about 30 minutes before boarding a unique cage-like elevator that takes you to the Zoomline platform high above. Another 20 minutes or so were spent on the launch platform as each group was prepped for their flight.
When it was our turn, the anticipation was palpable. You’ll lie down on a padded surface, and the friendly ride attendants will connect your harness to the zoomlines and attach your bag. Then, the platform in front of you opens, revealing the bustling Fremont Street far below. Suddenly, the surface drops away, and you are flying!
Speeding through the air, watching the crowds below become tiny figures, and absorbing the sensory overload of neon and lights was an absolute thrill. Sharing this experience with Natalie and my friends, and doing it at night, made it even more magical. The night setting amplified the Vegas vibe and made the lights even more spectacular.
After the exhilarating ride and obligatory photos (smile at the landing!), we grabbed some much-needed drinks and headed back to the hotel, finally getting to bed in the early hours. Despite the late night, the Fremont Street zip line was worth every minute of lost sleep.
