Paris, what an incredible journey you’ve been! This past month has been a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with both highs and lows. Despite being in my favorite city, I’ve mostly explored the suburbs, navigating the complexities of setting up our life here.
Unlike our experience in Strasbourg, where finding an apartment was a breeze, Paris presented a different challenge. We fell in love with so many beautiful properties, envisioning our future in each one, only to receive the disheartening “You haven’t been selected” email time and again. Living in hotels and then Jordan’s studio was definitely chaotic. But finally, I can say it’s all behind us! We’ve found our apartment, received approval, and we’re picking up the keys this Thursday. I’m absolutely ecstatic to begin this new chapter of our life together in our own space. And the thought of finally buying furniture is incredibly exciting! The best part? Our new place comes with a backyard! Life is about to get even sweeter for our pups in the middle of our street, our house.
Speaking of pups, Poe, our little whirlwind, is teething and full of energy, incredibly smart and sweet despite his wild side. On a more delicate note, we discovered that Rukia is battling cancer. Her health has been fluctuating, with moments of feeling well interspersed with periods of discomfort. We are dedicated to making her journey as comfortable and joyful as possible as we explore all available options to support her at her age.
The festive spirit is already in the air as Christmas markets are popping up around the city. We’re planning a trip back to Strasbourg next weekend to experience what I believe is the most enchanting Christmas market in the world, and we’ll be joined by ten of Jordan’s friends!
On the professional front, my job hunt is underway. I’ve had considerable interest from various parties, but the lack of a permanent address unfortunately hindered some opportunities. However, I’m actually welcoming this time to focus on setting up our apartment and ensuring the dogs are well-settled in their new home before diving into work commitments. I’m optimistic and not worried about finding the right opportunity.
And now, for the most wonderful news of all. On our one-year anniversary – can you believe how quickly time has flown? – at the Hemingway Bar in the Ritz, my absolute favorite bar in the city for very good reasons, Jordan asked me to marry him. It was truly a dream! I immediately called my parents to share my joy, but it turned out they already knew! Jordan had asked for their blessing when they visited us in France and revealed his anniversary proposal plans. What a wonderfully sneaky man! I am bursting with pride to call this incredible man my fiancé.
Life truly is a crazy, beautiful dream. All of this began by simply following my heart over a year ago… and it has been the best decision I’ve ever made for my mental health, my emotional well-being, my overall happiness… unequivocally, the best decision ever.
