Discovering Deliciousness at Indo Asian Street Eatery Tacoma

My friend Jim and I had a fun tradition: tackling the most distant Husky Football away game every year. Dining out was always part of the adventure, but we often found ourselves in unfamiliar territory, menus in hand, unsure of what local specialties to try or even which restaurant to choose. Being adventurous eaters, we developed a simple strategy when overwhelmed by choices. We’d just point and say, “We’ll take the food on the left side of the page… or the right side.” Surprisingly, we always ended up with something delicious.

Peg and I realized it had been too long since our last visit to Indo Asian, a fantastic eatery nestled in the Stadium District of downtown Tacoma. We invited our cousin Lindy to join us, eager to rediscover their menu. Things had changed since our last visit, and the menu felt different from our past experiences. When Jordan arrived to take our orders, I decided to take a similar approach to my football trip dinners and started pointing and making suggestions. What followed was a delightful procession of incredibly flavorful dishes filling our table. By the end of the meal, each of us had found new favorites at Indo Asian Street Eatery Tacoma.

The first treats to arrive were two bottles of Bundaberg, a superb ginger beer hailing from Australia – one for Lindy and one for me. It was Lindy’s very first encounter with ginger beer, and she instantly became a fan.

Shortly after, the asparagus with mushrooms graced our table. The asparagus was perfectly cooked – crisp yet tender – and the mushrooms were wonderfully succulent. The Miso Glazed Salmon was truly exceptional. Salmon has been a beloved dish in Peg’s family since childhood, often prepared by her father. And of course, the fried calamari was outstanding, cooked to crispy perfection. We also enjoyed the Spring Rolls with shrimp. Peg even managed to snag the fourth spring roll, marking it as a future meal to be savored later.

We had ordered more food than we could possibly eat in one sitting, which turned out to be a wonderful bonus. We all enjoyed fantastic leftovers for breakfast and lunch the next day. The service at Indo Asian Street Eatery Tacoma was truly top-notch. Sarah was incredibly helpful as we were getting ready to leave, cheerfully and efficiently packing up all our leftovers. Her pixie-like cheerfulness, friendly demeanor, and amusing personality are, in themselves, excellent reasons to return to Indo Asian. She appeared with boxes in four different sizes, perfectly prepared for any amount of food. Most of our dishes fit neatly into the smaller boxes, but Lindy’s generous portion of Pad See Ew required a larger container – enough for at least two more meals! Though, we’ll see how long it actually lasts knowing how delicious it was. Sarah even thoughtfully wrapped the asparagus and mushrooms over the leftover rice, drizzled the remaining sauce over it, and sprinkled the crispy calamari crumbs on top. “Thank you, Sarah,” I said, “that’s a brilliant idea!” It made for a delightful breakfast, and we still have a little left for a snack.
