Maintaining clean streets is a crucial service provided by StreetsLA, enhancing the quality of life for everyone in Los Angeles. A key part of this effort is the familiar sight of street sweepers, operated by our dedicated full-time Motor Sweeper Operators.
Across Los Angeles, over 4,700 curb miles are marked with “No Parking” signs to facilitate effective street cleaning. This system allows our sweepers to reach the curb line, removing debris, preventing trash from entering our waterways, and ensuring storm drains remain clear to reduce the risk of local flooding.
Due to staffing shortages resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic’s financial impact and a subsequent city-wide hiring freeze, adjustments to our street sweeping schedule have become necessary. Previously weekly routes will now be serviced biweekly, alternating between the first and third weeks or the second and fourth weeks of each month.
To help residents stay informed and avoid parking tickets, we encourage you to sign up for street sweeping notifications specific to your location. These notifications will be sent 24 and 48 hours in advance of scheduled sweeping in your registered area. You can register through the form on our page or utilize this map to explore and register for notifications for multiple locations where you frequently park.
We urge all residents to pay close attention to street signage to prevent parking citations. Vehicles parked in restricted zones on scheduled street cleaning days will be ticketed. Utilizing the Street Sweeping Near Me webpage and our notification system is the best way to stay informed about upcoming sweeping and plan your parking accordingly. For detailed information regarding parking regulations and enforcement, please visit the LA Department of Transportation’s parking information pages.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep your neighborhood cleaner! By ensuring street sweepers have clear access to curbs where debris accumulates, you contribute to safer, more mobile, and sustainable streets for all of Los Angeles.
