Street cleaning is a vital service provided by StreetsLA, significantly improving the quality of life for everyone in Los Angeles. One of the most visible aspects of this service is our dedicated fleet of street sweepers, operated by our team of full-time Motor Sweeper Operators. These sweepers are essential for maintaining the cleanliness of over 4,700 curb miles across La Streets where “No Parking” signs are in place. This allows us to effectively clean our streets, prevent debris from polluting our rivers and the ocean, and reduce the risk of local flooding caused by clogged storm drains.
Due to staffing limitations stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic’s financial impact and a subsequent city-wide hiring freeze, adjustments to our street sweeping schedule are necessary. Previously, many routes benefited from weekly sweeping. However, to ensure continued coverage with reduced resources, these routes will now be swept biweekly. This means your street will be swept either during the first and third weeks of the month, or during the second and fourth weeks.
Stay informed and avoid parking tickets by signing up for street sweeping notifications! We will send alerts 24 and 48 hours in advance of scheduled sweeping in your registered location. You can sign up quickly using the form on this page, or utilize this interactive map to explore streets where you frequently park and register for notifications for multiple locations across LA streets.
We urge all residents to pay close attention to street signage to prevent parking citations. Vehicles parked in restricted zones on scheduled street sweeping days will be ticketed. Using the Street Sweeping Near Me webpage and our notification system is the best way to stay informed about planned sweeping on your street, allowing you to plan your parking accordingly and contribute to cleaner LA streets. For detailed information regarding parking regulations and enforcement, please visit the LA Department of Transportation’s parking information pages.
Your cooperation in keeping LA streets clean is greatly appreciated! By ensuring routes are clear of parked vehicles, our street sweepers can effectively reach the curb where most debris accumulates. This collaborative effort makes our streets safer, more accessible, and environmentally sustainable for everyone in Los Angeles.
