Mark your calendars! Tickets for the Maggie Daley Park Skating Ribbon are released in blocks. For the period of March 3rd to March 9th (Closing Day), tickets will be available for purchase starting at 12 PM CST on Monday, February 24, 2025. It’s highly recommended to purchase your tickets online as soon as they are released to secure your spot, especially for weekend and holiday sessions which tend to sell out quickly.
Skating Session Times: Plan Your Visit
The Skating Ribbon at Maggie Daley Park offers multiple sessions daily, seven days a week, providing flexibility for your schedule:
Daily Skating Sessions:

- No Refunds Policy: Refunds are only issued if the Skating Ribbon is closed by park management due to unforeseen circumstances. No exceptions are made for personal cancellations.

- Skate Rental Sizes: Rental skates are available in child size 8 through adult size 15. Half sizes are not available.
- Session Capacity Limits: Session capacities are strictly limited to ensure a comfortable and safe skating experience. Ticket availability varies, and if your desired ticket type is unavailable, check back periodically as spots may open up. Tickets for a session will not be made available if any ticket type for that session is sold out.
- Verify Your Booking: Carefully review your selected dates, times, and session type (With Skate Rental or Bring Your Own Skates) during the purchase process. Refund and transfer policies are in effect immediately upon purchase.
- Group Bookings: Tickets can be purchased in blocks of up to 10 per transaction. If fewer than 10 tickets are available for a particular session, the remaining quantity will be the maximum available for selection.
- No Waitlist or Walk-up if Sold Out: There is no waitlist system. If a session is sold out online, there are no walk-up sales available on-site.
- Outdoor Venue & Weather: The MDP Ice Ribbon is an outdoor venue and operates in Chicago’s winter weather conditions. Check the weather forecast before purchasing your tickets. The Ice Ribbon remains open unless officially announced closed.
- Cancellations & Notifications: In case of closure due to weather or other emergencies, Maggie Daley Park management will make every effort to announce cancellations at least one hour before the session. Registered participants will be notified via email, and announcements will be posted on the MDP website and social media channels.
- Refund Processing for Closures: If your session is cancelled by management, refunds will be processed automatically and may take up to 10 business days. You do not need to contact them to request a refund in case of park-initiated closures.
Managing Your Skating Reservation: Transfers Available
Need to change your plans? Maggie Daley Park offers ticket transfers to another date or session time for a $3 transfer fee per ticket.
- Transfer Conditions: All ticket transfers must be completed at least 3 days in advance of your originally ticketed date.

- To transfer to a different day, click “change event.”
