After serving the community for over 40 years, Wonton Noodle Garden, a beloved restaurant in Manhattan’s Chinatown, has announced its relocation. Due to the expiration of their Mott Street lease and the landlord’s decision not to renew, the restaurant closed its doors at the original location at the beginning of June. However, fans of their classic Cantonese cuisine will be delighted to know that Wonton Noodle Garden has found a new home just around the corner.
Reopened on June 3rd, the restaurant is now located at 23 Pell Street, near Bayard Street. In conjunction with this move, Wonton Noodle Garden has rebranded itself as Mei Lai Wah Wonton Noodle. This new name pays homage to Mei Lai Wah Bakery, another well-known establishment from the same owners, which recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. Mei Lai Wah Bakery gained significant online fame during the pandemic, particularly for its popular and affordable pineapple buns filled with flavorful barbecue pork.
Patrons visiting the new Mei Lai Wah Wonton Noodle location on Pell Street can expect the same menu that made Wonton Noodle Garden a Chinatown favorite. The restaurant continues to serve its signature dishes, including pork wontons and pan-fried noodles, most of which are priced around $10. In keeping with its casual and affordable dining style, meals are served on disposable plates, ensuring a quick and convenient experience for diners in the heart of Chinatown near Bayard Street in New York City.
