| Important Visiting Notes: To ensure you have ample time for your visit, it is recommended to arrive between 30 minutes to one hour before the scheduled visiting time. All visitors are required to present a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a state ID, driver’s license, or passport. Visiting frequency is limited to three visits per week, with a maximum of one visit per day and one visitor per session. Each visit may last up to one hour. |
Visitors are expected to fully cooperate with and adhere to all instructions given by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department personnel. Failure to comply with these directives will result in the immediate termination of your visit.
Visiting Nashua Street Jail with Children
Children are welcome to visit inmates at Nashua Street Jail on any day of the week. However, to ensure a safe and orderly environment, no children are permitted to visit after 6:00 PM. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent and present an original birth certificate for each child (photocopies are not accepted). There is a limit of two children allowed per visit.
Supervising children closely while on jail premises is mandatory. Children must not be left unattended at any time. Visits may be terminated if a child is unwell, disruptive, unruly, or causes disturbance to other visitors or staff.

| Important Property Drop-Off Notes: Currently, Nashua Street Jail does not accept drop-offs for personal items like socks, underwear, t-shirts, bras, or sneakers. These items are available for purchase through the jail canteen. You are permitted to drop off court-appropriate clothing, but only on the calendar day preceding the inmate’s court appearance. Please note the following restrictions on court clothing: no boots, heels, sneakers, sweatpants, hooded shirts, fatigues, or clothing with excessive pockets, writing, or pictures are allowed. Specifically for inmates attending Suffolk Superior Court, court clothes should be dropped off after 4:30 PM. Visitors are responsible for the contents of any property they drop off. |

To retrieve a current detainee’s property, the inmate must complete and sign a property release form in the presence of a caseworker. This form must then be submitted to the front desk for property collection. If you are picking up property for an inmate who is no longer in custody and a release form wasn’t completed during their stay, you will need a signed notarized letter from the former inmate. Please be aware that Nashua Street Jail holds inmate property for only 30 days after their release from the facility.
Nashua Street Jail Visitor Dress Code
Adhering to the visitor dress code is mandatory at Nashua Street Jail to maintain a respectful and secure environment. The following guidelines must be strictly followed:
- All clothing must be worn as intended. Appropriate attire is required for infants, toddlers, and children. Clothing displaying words or pictures that could be deemed offensive to inmates, staff, or visitors is strictly prohibited.
- Upper body clothing must be worn at all times. Prohibited items include bare tops, bare shoulders, halter tops, tank tops, tube tops, cropped tops, body t-shirts, see-through tops, half shirts, and bathing or swimming-like tops.
- Dresses and skirts must have a hemline extending at least 6 inches below the knee.
- Shorts, baggy pants, pants with excessive pockets, army fatigues, sweatpants, sweatsuits, and uniforms are not permitted.
- Outerwear such as coats, jackets, sweaters, rainwear, ponchos, hooded sweatshirts, and over-shirts are prohibited inside the visiting area.
- Hats, caps, kerchiefs, scarves, bandannas, hair rollers, curlers, barrettes, scrunchies, rubber/elastic headbands, clips, pins, similar hair decorations, and belts are not allowed.
- Only a wedding band, medical alert bracelet, handkerchief, and locker key are permitted in the visiting area. Jewelry and currency (coins or paper money) are prohibited.
- Shower-style shoes and bare feet are not allowed.
Bail Commissioners at Nashua Street Jail
For individuals requiring bail services, a bail commissioner is available at Suffolk County Jail after 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Bail commissioners are also on-call during weekends.
