Farmville, Virginia, while perhaps not immediately recognized as a vegan hotspot, holds a delightful secret for plant-based eaters: the North Street Press Club. As a visitor with a daughter attending Longwood University, I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem offering dedicated vegan options. During a recent trip that included a visit to Virginia Tech and a loop through the state, my younger daughter and I made sure to stop in Farmville, primarily for a visit and a meal requested by my eldest. Little did we know, a satisfying vegan dining experience awaited us.

I opted for the “David Brooks,” a flavorful Beyond Burger creation complete with vegan cheddar and a selection of fresh toppings, accompanied by a generous portion of crispy French fries. After a long day of driving, this hearty and delicious meal was exactly what I needed. The burger was truly satisfying, and on a future visit, I am keen to explore their hummus plate, another enticing vegan offering.

The ambiance of North Street Press Club itself is quite inviting. While outdoor patio seating was available, we chose to sit indoors and were conveniently seated near the stage area. It seems North Street Press Club features live music on certain evenings, promising an entertaining atmosphere. Their beverage selection is extensive, including a variety of adult drinks, and the menu also caters to omnivores, ensuring everyone in a group finds something to enjoy. Adding to the pleasant experience, our server was a Longwood student, who engaged in an interesting conversation with my younger daughter about her college major interests.
Following our satisfying dinner, we took a brief evening stroll through the Longwood University campus. It was my younger daughter’s first time seeing the campus at night, and as Longwood is on her list of potential colleges, the visit was insightful. She has since applied, been accepted, and even received an invitation to the Honors College. It seems our family might just become more deeply rooted in the Lancer community!

For those planning a trip to Farmville, beyond North Street Press Club, I highly recommend exploring Green Front Furniture, a sprawling collection of furniture stores downtown, and the scenic High Bridge Trail State Park. For comfortable lodging, the recently renovated Hotel Weyanoke provides a wonderful option. I look forward to exploring and reviewing more vegan-friendly spots in Farmville soon. Wishing everyone safe and healthy travels!
