Sesame Street has a rich history of embracing jazz music, introducing generations of children to the genre through appearances from jazz luminaries. Over the past five decades, legends like Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, and Mary Lou Williams have graced Sesame Street, sharing their musical gifts with young viewers. Wynton Marsalis himself is no stranger to Sesame Street, having made memorable appearances. Notably, he performed “Take the A Train” with the Duck Ellington Orchestra and shared a special musical moment with Hoots the Owl on “No Matter What Your Language (Our Music Can Be The Same).” This upcoming concert builds upon this legacy, bringing together the worlds of jazz and children’s entertainment in a spectacular fashion.
A Swingin’ Sesame Street Celebration: 50 Years and Counting is a proud collaboration with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit force behind the iconic children’s program. All performances will be held at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s home, located on Broadway at 60th Street in the heart of New York City. Don’t miss this chance to witness Hoots the Owl and your favorite Sesame Street characters swing into action with the JLCO. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit jazz.org.
