Street cleaning is a vital service provided by StreetsLA, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life throughout our city. Our fleet of street sweepers and their skilled Motor Sweeper Operators play a crucial role in keeping Los Angeles clean and healthy.
To effectively clean our streets and ensure a healthy environment for everyone, StreetsLA utilizes parking restrictions on designated routes. Over 4,700 curb miles across Los Angeles have “No Parking” signs posted to allow our sweepers to access the curb line. This process is essential for removing debris, preventing trash from entering our rivers and the ocean, and reducing the risk of local flooding caused by clogged storm drains. By keeping our streets clear of debris, we contribute to a safer and more sustainable Los Angeles for all residents.
Due to staffing shortages resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic’s financial impact and a subsequent Citywide hiring freeze, adjustments to our Street Cleaning Schedule have become necessary. Previously, many routes benefited from weekly sweeping. However, to maintain service across the city with reduced resources, these routes are now swept biweekly. This means your street will be swept either during the first and third weeks of the month, or during the second and fourth weeks.
To help residents stay informed and avoid parking citations, StreetsLA offers a notification system. By signing up, you will receive alerts 24 and 48 hours before your registered street is scheduled for cleaning. You can register for notifications by filling out the form on our website or by using our interactive map to explore street cleaning schedules for various locations, including areas where you frequently park. Registering for multiple locations is simple, ensuring you’re always aware of upcoming street cleaning.
We urge all Los Angeles residents to pay close attention to street signage to prevent parking tickets. Vehicles parked in restricted zones on scheduled street cleaning days will be ticketed. Utilize the Street Sweeping Near Me webpage and our notification system to stay updated on your street cleaning schedule and plan your parking accordingly. For comprehensive information regarding parking regulations and enforcement, please visit the LA Department of Transportation’s parking information pages.
Your cooperation in keeping parking routes clear is greatly appreciated and directly contributes to the effectiveness of our street cleaning efforts. Accessible curbs allow our sweepers to remove accumulated debris, making our streets cleaner, safer, and more environmentally sustainable. Thank you for partnering with StreetsLA to maintain a cleaner and healthier Los Angeles.
