Your Guide to Navigating Street Sweeping Schedules

Understanding street sweeping schedules is essential for residents to keep streets clean and avoid parking tickets. Our guide provides key information about the City’s street cleaning program, helping you stay informed and compliant.

Daytime and Nighttime Street Cleaning Programs

The City operates daytime neighborhood street cleaning from April 1st through November 30th. This schedule applies to all neighborhoods except the North End, South End, and Beacon Hill. Parking restrictions related to the daytime program are suspended during December and March, again, with the exception of the North End, South End, and Beacon Hill. Crucially, there is no scheduled street sweeping or parking enforcement related to the program in January and February.

Weather permitting, mechanical sweepers are deployed. During the winter months, street cleaning and associated parking restrictions transition to nighttime operations. This nighttime schedule is in effect everywhere except for the North End, South End, and Beacon Hill neighborhoods, which may have different schedules.

In cases of inclement weather, Public Works may cancel street sweeping and parking enforcement. Notifications of cancellations are sent via email to NO-TOW subscribers. You can also check for updates by contacting 311.

Find Your Street Sweeping Schedule

Easily search for your specific street sweeping schedule using our online tool. You can search by street name or by combining your neighborhood and day of the week. The search results will show your District (approximating your neighborhood), Side of the street (odd/even), and Section (useful for longer streets divided by cross streets).

Once you’ve found your schedule, you can register to receive No-Tow email reminders. This ensures you never miss a street sweeping and can avoid unexpected parking tickets.

Addressing Schedule Discrepancies

While we strive for accuracy on our website and in email notifications, always prioritize posted street signs. If you notice a difference between the information online or in emails and what’s indicated on street signs, the street signs are the official source.

Please help us maintain accurate information by reporting any discrepancies you find through our online form. Your feedback is valuable in keeping our schedules up-to-date.

About the Street Sweeping Program

Public Works regularly refines the street sweeping program to improve efficiency, including aligning schedules with trash and recycling collection days. Always refer to posted signs in your area for the most current regulations. The Night Street Cleaning program concentrates on downtown areas and major city thoroughfares, with parking regulations enforced year-round in these areas. Remember that all street sweeping schedules are subject to adjustments based on weather and road conditions.
