Kimberly Hueffman, 47, was arrested following an investigation by the New Haven Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center, which tracked her activities through social media.
Police became aware of a planned street takeover scheduled for October 22, 2024, in New Haven. Their investigation led them to Hueffman, who authorities say was using an Instagram account to repeatedly announce and coordinate these illegal events. These street takeovers, characterized by reckless driving, blocking public roads, and creating hazardous environments, have been a growing concern for law enforcement and local communities.

Officer Christian Bruckhart of the New Haven Police Department highlighted the double-edged sword of social media in this case. “Social media works both ways. Chief Karl Jacobson stated firmly, “Street takeovers are illegal and unsafe for participants, the public, and responding officers. We are not going to tolerate this behavior. We will continue to aggressively disrupt them as they are happening.” The department has indicated it will employ tactics such as deploying stop sticks to deflate vehicle tires and arresting both participants and spectators. Hueffman faces charges of inciting a riot. After her arrest on Tuesday, she was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 24.
