Born Tariq Mahdi in Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Tariq’s early life was steeped in the importance of education, growing up as the eldest of seven children to a school teacher. His natural musical talent blossomed early, leading him to explore and excel in various creative pursuits. His teenage years ignited a passion for hip hop, a genre that would become the driving force behind his innovative musical endeavors. Relocating to Atlanta in 1998 marked a significant turning point, immersing him in a thriving artistic environment encompassing spoken word, opera, and positive hip hop.
