Steffry isn’t just a cooking instructor; she’s a lifelong enthusiast of all things culinary. Growing up in Northern Wisconsin, she was inspired by her mother’s adventurous cooking and the spectacular Mardi Gras parties filled with extraordinary food, music, and festive costumes. This early exposure ignited a deep love for New Orleans, which blossomed into a full-blown passion after her first trip in 2016.

Like many of us during the global pandemic, Steffry found herself seeking culinary comfort and inspiration at home. This led her to dive deep into the heart of Cajun and Creole cuisine. Through countless cookbooks and immersive reading, combined with her firsthand experiences in Louisiana, Steffry has honed her skills and developed a genuine appreciation for the unique flavors and techniques of this region. Now, she’s eager to share her culinary journey with you at Willy Street Co-op.

Join Steffry for her upcoming class, “CULTURE AND CUISINE OF LOUISIANA: CRAWFISH,” hosted at the Willy West Community Room. This isn’t just a cooking class; it’s a cultural exploration! You’ll delve into the rich history and diverse influences that have shaped Louisiana’s culinary identity, a true melting pot of flavors. The class will take you on a journey through key ingredients and cultural traditions, culminating in an understanding of Louisiana’s iconic dish, Gumbo. And yes, there will be delicious samples!

This immersive experience is scheduled for Thursday, April 10th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The fee is a steal at just $30 for Willy Street Co-op owners and $40 for non-owners.
