The Mahoning County Engineer’s Office, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), is pleased to announce that responses to public comments regarding the proposed improvements to Glenwood Avenue (CR 135) are now available. This project focuses on enhancing Glenwood Street from Western Reserve Road to Midlothian Boulevard in Boardman Township, Mahoning County.

During the virtual public comment period, which ran from September 20 to October 20, 2024, the project team actively sought community input on the planned upgrades to Glenwood Street. We have carefully reviewed all feedback received and have compiled a comprehensive summary addressing common questions, comments, and concerns. Our detailed responses are now accessible for review and download in the “Documents” section on the project webpage, located in the sidebar.

This important initiative aims to improve Glenwood Street (CR 135) between Western Reserve Road and Midlothian Boulevard in Boardman Township, Mahoning County, Ohio. The proposed improvements include restriping Glenwood Avenue to optimize traffic flow and enhance safety. The current four-lane configuration will be updated to a three-lane design, featuring one through lane in each direction, a dedicated center two-way left-turn lane, and specific turn lanes at key intersections.

Furthermore, to promote cycling and pedestrian safety, dedicated five-foot-wide bike lanes will be added to both the northbound and southbound sides of Glenwood Street, stretching from Western Reserve Road to Overhill Road. A key feature of the project is the construction of a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Wildwood Drive, designed to improve traffic circulation and reduce congestion. The project will also incorporate necessary drainage and traffic signal upgrades to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the improvements.

Construction for the Glenwood Street project is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2026 and is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete. We encourage interested parties to visit the project webpage for additional information and to review the detailed responses to public comments. Your engagement remains valuable as we move forward with the Glenwood Street improvement project.
